Mother Nature guides our farming practices and winemaking decisions year after year. In 2020, pernicious growing conditions led us to the painful decision to refrain from bottling our fan-favorite Reserve and Signature Cabernet Sauvignons. Instead, for this vintage, we contributed this quintessential Napa Cab, sourced from highly regarded Napa Valley vineyards, into a wine greater than the sum of its parts: the 2020 Fortivo Bordeaux blend, aged in 50% new oak and comprised of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Estate Cabernet Franc, and 8% Estate Malbec.
2020 is considered by wine writers and critics as a vintage of strength and resiliency, a concept encapsulated by our Fortivo (which loosely translates to “strong” in Italian).
"Aromas of dark berries, toasted spices, crushed walnut and cedar. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated with tight tannins and juicy dark fruits. Firm, spicy finish."
- Wine Critic James Suckling, April 2023 (92 points)
